EduRails for developers
EduRails exposes a v1 REST API with a public OpenAPI contract. With it you can sync learners from your school management system, read your cohorts’ progress or verify certificates; and with the MCP server, let an agent (Claude, for example) work with EduRails on your behalf.
Where to start
- Quickstart: your first call in five minutes and a school’s three typical cases.
- Authentication: personal access tokens (PAT), OAuth 2.1 and the browser session.
- Errors: the error format and what to do with each code.
- MCP: connect an agent to EduRails.
- Reference: every public operation, with examples.
Five contract rules
- Base:
https://api.edurails.com/api/v1. JSON in UTF-8. - Everything belonging to an institution lives under
/api/v1/organizations/{org_id}/…. A resource of another institution returns 404, never 403: its existence is not confirmed. - Errors always carry
{"error": {"code", "message", "request_id"}}. Thecodeis stable; themessageis translated. - v1 never changes incompatibly: anything being retired is announced with the
DeprecationandSunsetheaders. - Learner data is personal data: request only what you need and do not copy it where it is not needed.
