EduRails

Online learning made easy. For your whole institution.

Learner guide

This guide is for people learning on EduRails: students at a school, an academy or a company. Your institution decides which courses you see and which features are on, so some sections may not apply to you.

Signing in

EduRails does not use passwords. Sign in at app.edurails.com in one of these ways:

  • Email code: type your email and we send you a 6-digit code. It expires after 10 minutes and allows 5 attempts.
  • Google or GitHub, if your account uses the same email.

If your institution invited you, your first sign-in is through the link in the invitation email.

Your home page

Home shows the courses you are taking, your progress, your cohort and, if your institution has gamification on, your streak, the weekly missions and the daily reward.

In Goals you can set your own targets (for example, finishing a course by a date) and tick them off.

Finding and starting courses

The catalog shows the courses your institution offers: the Valfiguer catalog courses it has chosen and its own private courses. You can filter by level and topic and search by text.

  • Programs (Programs): tracks of several courses that end in a program certificate.
  • Paths (Paths): recommended sequences to learn something step by step.
  • Course page: syllabus by module, duration and a button to start or continue where you left off.

Your progress belongs to your institution: if you belong to two, each one only sees what you do with it. Switch institution in the selector at the top.

Lessons and quizzes

Each lesson opens full screen. When you finish it, click Mark as complete: it counts towards your progress and, the first time, gives XP. You can take your own notes on each lesson; only you can see them.

Lesson quizzes are for practice: you see right away whether you got it right and you can repeat them.

Exams

A course final exam is taken in one go and is timed. If your connection drops or you close the tab, you can resume it where you left off while there is time left.

Passing a course exam issues your certificate.

Certificates

My certificates lists all of yours. Each one has a verification code that never changes: anyone can check it at edurails.com/en/verify.

  • Download it as a PDF or share its verification link.
  • Add it to your LinkedIn profile with the Add to LinkedIn button.
  • If your name is wrong, tell your institution: an issued certificate is never edited; it is revoked and a new one is issued.

XP, levels and leaderboard

If your institution has gamification on, you earn XP by completing lessons, quizzes and exams. Every 250 XP you level up. Your XP is yours and stays with you if you change institution; the leaderboard is per institution.

You appear on the leaderboard with your name and avatar; if you prefer not to, you can hide yourself from the leaderboard itself. Your profile shows your level, badges and achievements.

Games, duels and community

  • Flashcards (Flashcards): spaced-repetition review; each card comes back when it is due.
  • Games (Games): mini-games about the content of your courses.
  • Duels: a real-time challenge against someone from your institution.
  • Community (Community): your institution’s wall to share achievements and questions. You can report anything that breaks the community guidelines.

AI tutor

Some institutions turn on an AI tutor inside lessons to answer questions about the content. If you do not see it, your institution does not have it on. Conversations are kept encrypted for 90 days and your institution can decide to send them without your name.

Offline and on your phone

EduRails can be installed as an app from your phone’s browser (Add to home screen). Lessons you have already opened can be read offline, and if you mark one as complete without a connection, it is sent automatically when you are back online.

Exams, quizzes and games need a connection: offline you will see a notice instead of starting.

Your account and your data

In Settings you change your name, photo, language, light or dark theme and which emails you receive. You can also download your data (the export expires after 7 days) and ask to delete your account.

Your institution is responsible for your academic data. More detail in the privacy policy.
